    Daniël François MalanPC (Afrikaans pronunciation:[ˈdɑːni.əlfranˈswɑːmɑːˈlan]; 22 May 1874 – 7 February 1959) was a South African politician who served as the fourth prime minister of South Africa from 1948 to 1954.

    Daniël François Malan was born on 22 May 1874 in Riebeek-West in the Cape Colony.

    His father, who bore the same name, was a wealthy farmer and clergyman.
